Charles Grossman Graduate Scholarships

APPLICATION

The ICSC Foundation has renamed its graduate scholarship program the Charles Grossman Graduate Scholarship, after the late Charles Grossman who served as the Foundation’s Chairman from 2006-2007.

The newly named Charles Grossman Graduate Scholarship now includes a grant for travel expenses for two scholarship recipients to attend RECon and be honored at an awards ceremony. The Foundation recognizes that there are aspects of the shopping center industry that cannot be learned in the classroom. The opportunity to attend RECon, the largest retail real estate convention in the world, is an invaluable experience that will expose the recipients to networking opportunities, as well as current innovations and changes in the industry. This added benefit of receiving the award gives future industry leaders a chance to prepare for the challenges that are present today and prepares them for the opportunities of tomorrow.

ABOUT THE CHARLES GROSSMAN GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

The graduate scholarships were created to assist and encourage new talent to select retail real estate as their career path. Acknowledging that many students delve deeper into their areas of concentration when they begin their graduate studies, the ICSC Foundation offers graduate level scholarships for those studying retail real estate or a related curriculum.

Two $10,000 USD scholarships are available to full time graduate students (and part time students who are working full time), who are also ICSC members and indicate a preference for a career in retail real estate. The recipients of these scholarships will be named as ICSC Foundation Charles Grossman Graduate Scholars. The scholarship award check will be made out to the university the recipient indicates s/he will be attending during the next academic year to be maintained on account. The funds will be applied to tuition in accordance with university policies.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

The applicant must be an active ICSC member who is or will be a graduate degree seeking candidate enrolled in the 2010 fall academic term at an accredited college or university. The scholarship is available to full time students or part time students who are working full time. A minimum of 3.0 GPA and ICSC membership is required.

AWARDS

The $10,000 scholarship award check will be distributed directly to the university’s financial aid office. The funds will be applied to tuition and related university fees in accordance with university policies. The costs of attending the awards ceremony at RECon 2010 including registration, air, hotel and approved expenses are also included as part of the Charles Grossman Graduate Scholarship and are handled directly through the Foundation.

All applications are confidential and are reviewed by the ICSC Foundation Scholarship Judging Committee and ICSC staff only. Only complete applications will be accepted. Late applications will not be accepted after the deadline date. No Exceptions.
