You are the best judge of your individual continuing education needs. The University offers you the opportunity either to enhance your expertise in your present area of interest, or to develop into new ones.
Courses include both subjects of ongoing, fundamental importance and others designed to give you insights into the latest trends and practices.
Choose any course from any one of the eight colleges of study and follow a schedule of three-hour courses designed to cover the subject matter from A to Z. Each course follows a prescribed syllabus. Designed by ICSC's Education Department and the ICSC Education Advisory Committee, with input from the University's deans and faculty, the syllabi are intended to be all-inclusive, presenting the essential information on the topics.
You can choose from a wide selection of courses scheduled during six time periods over three days. You have the option to stay with the curriculum at one of seven subject-oriented colleges or select from alternative "elective" courses from any of the colleges that suit your learning needs. Seven different courses are offered in each time slot.
Courses are limited in size to ensure the best learning environment. Early registration is recommended to reserve the courses of your choice before they are sold out.
How You Will Benefit
The courses are designed to transfer knowledge fast. After any three-hour course you will take away practical, usable information that you can put to work immediately. Each course is designed to stand alone. However, each is part of a larger curriculum that thoroughly covers an aspect of knowledge affecting shopping centers.
The courses speak directly to your work needs, whether you are concerned about compliance with regulations, need to get a handle on financial and legal jargon, need to pick up new ideas or approaches, or need up-to-the-minute ideas about how to increase funds from operations.
Regardless of your level of experience, there are courses that will get you on track or keep you there. The University is perfect for the specialist who wants to broaden his or her knowledge in another discipline. Perfect for advanced professionals entering the shopping center industry from another field.
The Deans and Associate Deans of each of the eight ICSC University colleges are accomplished authorities in their fields, and have volunteered their time to ICSC to create a leading edge syllabus. The information to be presented is the most current available on each subject.
The faculty, comprised of industry leaders and recognized experts in the shopping center industry, lets you tap into their vast base of experience in their areas of specialty.
The courses are taught in an interactive, non-lecture style to allow you to ask questions and share your thoughts, ideas and experiences during the presentations with your peers.
Establish key contacts from every facet of the shopping center industry. Attendees include professionals with small, medium and large center experience; executives from value retail and specialty centers; asset managers; retailers; legal experts; architects; controllers; leasing agents and realtors; builders and developers and more!
Network with your colleagues during morning breakfast sessions, and informally discuss the subjects that interest you the most with our roundtable leaders. Take a seat at our luncheon presentations and hear the latest from the leaders in the shopping center industry. Come to the reception following the Monday afternoon classes and meet other University participants.
