ARTICLE IX:  CONTRACTS, CHECKS, DEPOSITS AND FUNDS

Section 1. CONTRACTS. The Board of Trustees may authorize any officer or officers, agent or agents of the Council, in addition to the officers so authorized by these By-Laws, to enter into any contract or execute and deliver any instrument in the name of and on behalf of the Council, and such authority may be general or confined to specific instances.

Section 2. CHECKS, DRAFTS, ETC. All checks, drafts or other orders for payment of money, notes or other evidences of indebtedness issued in the name of the Council, shall be signed by such officer or officers, agent or agents of the Council and in such manner as shall from time to time be determined by resolution of the Board of Trustees. In the absence of such determinations by the Board of Trustees, such instruments shall be signed by the Treasurer or an Assistant Treasurer and countersigned by the President or a Vice-President of the Council. All officers or employees of the Council who are by resolution of the Board of Trustees authorized to sign or countersign such instruments shall provide a bond with surety, at the expense of the Council, in the same amount as that required of the Treasurer of the Council pursuant to Article VI, Section 8.

Section 3. DEPOSITS. All funds of the Council shall be deposited from time to time to the credit of the Council in such banks, trust companies or other depositories as the Board of Trustees may select.

Section 4. GIFTS. The Board of Trustees may accept, on behalf of the Council, any contribution, gift, bequest or devise for the general purposes or for any special purpose of the Council.
