The Dutch Council of Shopping Centers

Dutch Council of Shopping Centers

The DCSC is a non-profit association for all enterprises and institutions that are professionally involved in shopping centers and the industry in the Netherlands. Its strength lies in its neutral and independent position within the Dutch shopping center property industry. Since the founding in 1986 DCSC had its main focus on the systematically developed shopping center. Over the past years also the environmental and urban aspects has become more and more a field of attention. Everybody who works in the Dutch shopping center real estate can apply for a membership, the board judges if a company is granted one.

Luncheon meetings, expert meetings, study trips, debates, an annual award show and New Generation breakfast meetings are organized for the members throughout the year. Here members can meet one another, exchange information and discuss and learn about new national and international developments. April, 2009 the Dutch Council of Shopping Centers counts 650 members. These are mainly developers, center managers, owners, advisors, government and retailers from 240 companies, the main players on the Dutch market.

Mission Statement
'The NRW is the platform with an observing and opinion character where the disciplines retail, real estate and town & country planning come together, with the objective to increase the quality and stimulate the development of the sector, with the goal to increase the entertainment value of the available shops for the consumer'

Questions about Dutch shopping centers:
The NRW doesn't hold any detailed statistics about Dutch shopping centers.
There are two companies we regularly refer to for such information. Strabo www.strabo.nl and Locatus www.locatus.com. Strabo is specialized in visitor- and inhabitant research for professionals in commercial and non-commercial real estate in the Netherlands. They hold unique databases with solid market information. Second, Locatus, they collect and sell information about retail and retail property in the Netherlands in aid of investors, retailers, public authorities or manufacturers. They can provide you with up-to-date information on 440.000 retail outlets in the Benelux.

Questions about the Dutch market:
The secretariat office doesn't hold branch information or statistics about the Netherlands and its shopping centers. Therefore if anybody approaches the secretariat with questions we can only try to help them down the road as far as possible. Which can, for instance, mean that we refer to other organisations.

Asking your question:
If you have a question, please feel free to contact the secretariat.
