Junction 8 is the leading suburban mall in the central region of Singapore. It is strategically located in the high-density residential area of Bishan and is wellserved by the Bishan Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station and the Bishan bus interchange. Completed in 1991, this prime suburban mall comprises five floors of retail space of over 245,000 Square Feet (sq ft), and has two basement levels of car park.
Junction 8 increased its retail Gross Floor Area (GFA) by approximately 70,000 sq ft following the completion of a major asset enhancement initiative in December 2004. Earlier, space from the Junction 8 Office Tower was converted to retail usage and transferred to the retail portion of the mall. With the new retail space, a new retail extension was created and the retail footprint was extended to amalgamate seamlessly with the MRT station. Originally, the Office Tower had to be demolished to maintain Junction 8s GFA. However, the space at the Office Tower was handed over rent-free to the National Council of Social Service to further our corporate social responsibilities goal.
Positioned for the middle-income and family-oriented segments of the retail market, Junction 8 is a one-stop shopping, dining and entertainment destination and enjoys close to 22 million shopper visits annually. With over 170 tenants, the mall is anchored by a departmental store, a supermarket, a cinema, an electronics store and a food court. There is also an Open Landscape Plaza on Level 3, known as Top of the 8, which comes complete with a projection screen and children playground to host activities and events.
Awarded the Superbrands Singapore status for the period of 2004-2005, Wisma Atria shopping centre has enjoyed a prominent status in the heart of Orchard Road for the past 19 years. Anchoring a Japanese department store, the shopping mall also houses five levels of retail, each with its own target market segments. The basement features affordable casual wear and accessories for the young and trendy shopper while the first level showcases mainly European fashion labels targetting the fashion-conscious. Active wear, beach wear and casual wear can be found on the third level, and the fourth level is home to lifestyle concepts and the latest gadgets and other technologically advanced inventions. In 2005, Wisma Atria upped the dining quotient with a facelift of its dining offerings. A new food concept showcasing 24 local and specialty cuisines and several popular restaurants were introduced to draw shoppers.
